Applications are accepted year around. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Closed from 12:00 to 1:00 pm for lunch.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age. Provide a current valid California Driver’s license at time of dispatch. (Other states driver’s licenses accepted if not expired)
  • An applicant must be in good health and physically able to perform all phases of the work.
  • No specific educational requirements are necessary although reading and speaking English is beneficial.

UA Local 355 currently has jurisdiction in 41 counties in the Northern California and 14 counties in the Northern Nevada


The term of the training program is a five year program and is broken down to 9,000 On the Job Training Hours for the Landscape Irrigation Fitter and 7,800 On the Job Training Hours for the Underground Utility Fitters. Must attend 144 hours of classroom per year. The classes are held every 3rd Saturday at the training center at 425 Nebraska Street, Vallejo, CA. There are no classes held in July and August.

Men and women who are willing to dedicate themselves to a five-year program and will strive to develop a good work ethic while performing their on-the-job training.


Local 355 Training Center is located at 426 Alabama Street.

Our mission is to provide quality training to our apprentices in order to graduate quality Journeyman to our contractors.

Our instructors are well trained Journeyman who are also 355 members

Our apprentices not only learn on the job training but also classroom hands-on including, but not limited to, OSHA10, CPR, First Aid Training and Green Build Class Training.
